Well, we're finally here in London ! The flight was pretty uneventful, not much turbulence and I was actually able to get some sleep thanks to help from my little "green" pill my friend Ranie gave me to "calm me". We arrived in Heathrow Airport, exchanged our money....what a ripoff....$1.83 US = 1 pound UK. We managed to find our way onto the tube, the Picadilly Line, and Zachary met us where we had to change stations. When we got to the station and had to ring Richard (the man we rented the apartment from) to come and get us because we didn't know where to go. Richard was just down the block so he arrived quickly. Oh wait, let's backup to calling Richard from the airport to let him know we arrived. Now, everyone that knows Linda is aware of her "binder" of all the information she has researched, contacts, etc. Now, I have to give her the benefit of the doubt, European telephone numbers are very confusing, never knowing if you need to dial the "zeros" in front of the numbers. Well, after several attempts of several numbers with no luck at all (one of the numbers was a business number who never heard of Richard), we were convinced that our apartment didn't exist and we were scammed ! The airport would be just a fine accomodation....bathroom, food, chairs for sleeping, and transportation options....what else did we need? I told her to let me try and I was successfully able to get Richard, phew ! After unpacking, we were all starving so we headed to Covent Gardens for a bite to eat. It was surprisingly cheap...an appetizer, 4 meals, and a bottle of wine for only 55 pounds (about $80). Then we walked around a bit, quickly fading from exhaustion. Ashley managed to fall asleep several times...twice at dinner, a few times on the train, and then again on the bus. She didn't sleep at all on the plane, so she was up for 2 days!! After quite an excursion back to the apartment, we didn't have Zachary to navigate us this time nor any maps, we finally made it back to the apartment. We had the trains down pat, the busses were another story...we had no clue which bus to get. Thank God a bus driver had pity on us an literally drove us to the bus stop we needed to catch our bus. Needless to say, amongst all the laughing we did, somebody whom I won't mention names advised us that she'd have to do laundry when we got back to the apartment. That seems to be the theme of our trips, somebody soiling themself from laughing so hard. I think the next time I travel with anyone I will throw in a few Depends in my suitcase. Once again, in a few short hours (about 12) of our destination, we had many experiences and felt like we've been there forever already. Did I forget to mention that we had 3 bags of groceries in tow also? Well, it's about 11:30 am here with two sleepy heads, so I'm going to go shower and go explore our neighborhood until they get up and moving. Cheerio !!
So exciting...wasn't i supposed to go with you??? Also, this shouldn't be a comment! You should put it as a post so your readers know it is there...we're going to have to have an instructional. I am going downstairs to try out my cricket. If you speak to Eddie let him know I may stop by for some of the cartridges! Have fun take lots of pictures and post!!!!!
